Glitterazzi does Luxxery Express in Washington DC

by Hiba Hakki 28. June 2010 05:48

Our Friends at Glitterazzi:  http://glittarazzi.onsugar.com/search/hakki Just wrote up a nice post about our new office in Washington DC.

It's a bird, it's a plane -- no, it's speedy Botox

Up in the sky, look: It's a bird; it's a plane. No, it's speedy botox.

On July 1, Luxxery Express Medical Spa will open in Georgetown, featuring walk-in injectable fillers by Dr. Ayman Hakki, a Washington-area plastic surgeon -- who has been featured on MTV’s "True Life: I Want Breast Implants."

Perfect for those who are "on-the-go" and "beauty-driven," Luxxery Express will also feature little-to-no wait for its services.

In other words, it'll be faster than a speeding bullet.

Speed Botox Hits Georgetown This Summer

by Hiba Hakki 21. June 2010 14:41

This summer, District wrinkles are under assault with the opening of D.C.’s “first ever botox boutique.” The Georgetown-based Luxxery Express Medical Spa will feature no-appointment-necessary injectable fillers for “D.C.’s on-the-go, beauty-driven community”—a local demographic that’s been ignored for too long.

The man behind the needle is Dr. Ayman Hakki, who, according to a press release, “saw two alternatives as a career: become a plastic surgeon like Ivo Pitangue whose work on Sophia Lauren popularized cosmetic surgery or become an architect like Frank Gehry whose work evokes both pop culture and high art.” Thankfully for the nomadic beauty-driven community, Hakki’s “love of beauty and the human body” won out. The choice paid off: The presser touts him as “the first D.C. metropolitan-area plastic surgeon whose artistry was featured on MTV’s ‘True Life: I Want Breast Implants.’” He’ll be available to stuff your face at 2141 Wisconsin Ave. NW starting July 1.

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Lakers!

I wanted to take a quick note and congratulate the Los Angeles Lakers.

Congratulations to the Back-to-Back Champs!

All About Laser Hair Removal: more information

by Hiba Hakki 16. June 2010 12:46

I received a few phone calls and emails asking for more information on our Laser Hair Removal. I am happy to oblige. Here you go:

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal technology is the use of an invisible beam of light combined with a constant source of heat. When the heat penetrates the hair follicle, it destroys its roots disabling its ability to grow hair again, while still preserving the surrounding skin. There are just a few steps involved in laser hair reduction. When actively growing hair is struck with the laser beam, it is either destroyed or sent into a resting phase. In order to treat the actively growing hair effectively and for optimum results, multiple treatments are necessary. This will insure catching each hair when it is in its active phase. Luxxery patients are offered a package of multiple sessions as the actively growing hair and the resting hair emerge at different time.

What are the benefits of Laser Hair Removal at Luxxery?

At Luxxery, Dr. Hakki's team uses cutting edge technology with the Cutera Xeo Laser®. Cutera has been the pioneer in establishing the "all skin type" hair removal in a world where hair removal is still the number one requested aesthetic procedure. The procedure is extremely effective in reducing hair growth for extended periods of time. The state-of-the-art Cutera Xeo Laser is often referred to as a "color blind" laser in its versatility at accommodating the diverse skin types and colors of Luxxery's clientele. Not only can the machine treat all skin types, it also has the ability to treat larger areas.

At Luxxery our patients receive the laser hair removal treatments that they need to make their investment productive and to be satisfied with their results.

What is Laser Hair Reduction?

Laser hair removal is often referred to as a permanent reduction in hair growth. In the ideal patient, laser hair removal technology provides a permanent reduction of hair growth up to 80-90% of the targeted area, hence the term permanent reduction. It is worthy to note that laser hair removal has a low successful rate in treating grey, blonde and light red hair due to the lack of melanin in the hair follicle.

Recovery

Timing of the procedure depends on the surface area of hair and how much the patient has requested to be reduced. After the procedure, treated skin may be mildly irritated. This will go away in one to two days. Treat the area as if it is a mild sunburn.

Are you a candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Common reasons patients seek laser hair removal procedure include:

  • Unsightly facial or body hair
  • Pseudofolliculitis barbae or shaving bumps (in men and women)
  • Painful waxing

The Washington Post: A PLASTIC SURGEON'S D.C. MOVE

by Dr. Ayman Hakki 7. June 2010 05:50

The Buzz has learned that celebrity plastic surgeon Ayman Hakki -- he has worked on Washington Redskins Hall of Famers, former Miss Americas and the wives of Washington Wizards players -- plans to open a 1,200-square-foot express location of his plastic surgery clinic at 2141 Wisconsin Ave. NW, in upper Georgetown near the recently reopened "Social Safeway."

Hakki has talked about moving to the District for months, but his new Luxxery Express location will officially open July 1.

"If a woman is going to the Whole Foods on my right or the Social Safeway on my left, then they are going to be near me and I am going to make myself accessible to them," said Hakki, who once had an office near the corner of M and Thomas Jefferson streets NW. "They can walk in during their lunch hour, after highlighting their hair in Georgetown or after grabbing groceries."

Hakki said the world has changed from the old days. Four years ago, 80 percent of his customers came through referrals from other customers. Last year, 78 percent heard about his services from the Internet and the rest from customer referrals.

And customers demand half-hour, walk-in visits for injections that get rid of perpetual frowns or erase the line between the nose and mouth -- services that were mostly unheard of a decade ago.

They can walk in, have the skin plumped up, swipe the credit card and leave. The goal at the Wisconsin facility will be to see 20 to 25 patients per day for the minimally-invasive procedures.

"The large-ticket [surgery] items are shrinking and the small-ticket items are growing. I want to capture that trend. Not just wander into it, but embrace it," Hakki said.

Hakki, who was featured on an MTV "True Life" episode about cosmetic surgery, plans to keep his Waldorf practice, where he sees close to 100 cosmetic patients a week.
